Where to Find Wylie East High School in Wylie Texas

Snapshot of front view Wylie East High SchoolMost everyone in the area knows about the newest high school in Wylie, Texas. After all, it's simply named Wylie East. But lots of folks are not real sure where to find the high school. It is located on the edge of the city off of Hwy78 N. The street itself is now named Wylie East Drive (formerly Bennet Rd). If you travel like I do it is the third street on the right from the intersection where Walmart is located.

I feel pretty comfortable with my driving directions for now since Walmart is fairly new to the area and the streets have recently been renamed. There is a new housing subdivison growing up just off Hyw 78 N but that's another story of progress in the making. If you use google maps for the high school, at present, the street now named Wylie East still shows as Bennet. I suspect that would be true of GPS too but I have not tried it.

Wylie East High opened its doors in 2007-2008 school year with classes for ninth grade students only. The school has added a grade with each new year. The class of 2012 will be the first graduating class of Wylie East. The class of 2011 will graduate with Wylie High per the school district.

Here's a link to the Wylie East High School website for any additional information concerning this grand new school. I am sure it is a grand school because my grandson goes there and he's pretty grand and that's why he's called grandson.

Go Wylie East RAIDERS!

Ask...and You Shall Receive

Blue cloud with a happy faceOn a previous post I wrote about a concern I had regarding a blog post that did not register on my points summary nor did I get any credit for actually posting the blog. Well, I can report today that I did receive a positive response from the AR Support who assures me that the post will count towards my 30 posts in 30 days challenge. Even though I still don't have the points for posting the blog it was really good news for me. I need all the blogs I have posted for the short run on consecutive blogging I already have in the works. But there's something else that I didn't know prior to today which really encouraged me even more.

I didn't know about the existence of two Activerain groups set up to serve as a central point of encouragement for all participants taking the challenge. I received an invitation from Pamela Seley to join these two groups as part of the challenge simply because I had commented on one of her blogs. Keeping in the spirit of Activerain, Pamela sent me the invitations to join these groups.  They are: 30 Posts in 30 Days and 30 in 30 Showcase.

The first group, 30 Posts in 30 Days is to identify all the participants who have taken on the challenge. The second group, 30 in 30 Showcase is the group for actually posting your daily blogs during the challenge. It is the second group where all the activity will be once you have joined the first group. Note: You should have at least started the challenge on or before September 1st to be able to get the consecutive thirty days needed.

Today is my eighth (8) consecutive post. I am encouraged. I have a connection to other Rainers who have taken on the challenge. I can share in their efforts and they can encourage me in mine. Even if you aren't participating in the challenge come on in to the group and cheer on a fellow Rainer or two. If you are participating in the challenge please be sure to join the two groups for all the blogging encouragement you can get.

Happy blogging...in the Rain! And thank you, Pamela, for the invitations.

I Love Being a Realtor Because...

I recently participated in an online survey of sorts by the National Association of Realtors. NAR wanted those agents that were Realtors to complete the sentence "I Love Being a Realtor Because...". A week or so later I received an email correspondence stating that my response would be included in the printed article for their national magazine.

It was small print and about as easily missed as the online survey was. A couple of weeks after the publication I received in the mail a small pin like the image that you see at the end of the blog subscription below. I liked my little pin of recognition so I decided to utilize it on Facebook and update my status with another reason why I like being a Realtor. From this status post I received some likes as well as a few good comments.

Now my mind is in working gear. I am thinking where can I reach lots of Realtors...in the RAIN, of course. How would you complete the sentence I Love Being a Realtor because...

Lone Star Ride Tenth Anniversary 2010

Comic cyclist imageThis year's bike ride for fight against AIDS marks the organization's tenth year. It is a 2 day, 150 mile cycling ride through various parts of Dallas-Ft Worth. This year's event will begin on Saturday, September 25th and conclude on Sunday, September 26th. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and raise money for a worthy cause.

If you aren't prepared to cycle for two days you may want to participate in the bike raffle and win a new cycle. For more information about this year's event click on Lone Star Ride.

It Happened Once Before

Puzzled male with a small umbrellaMonday was not fun in the Rain what with the network going on/offline. It made blogging difficult and much more time consuming. Especially when I was trying to make a goal I made such as the recent 30 day challenge. I felt like I could meet the challenge because over the last month I have been more proactive in my blogging efforts. Although I don't consider myself a newbie by any stretch I did want to participate in the challenge because I have been working on consistency which has not been one of my blogging strengths.

It happened once before that I made a deliberate decision to try to improve my blogging habits and the Rain crashed. Only that crash lasted for a lengthy period of time; I hope this is not what we are dealing with in the present. I know, I know...growing pains. But there have been other issues that will impact my decision to meet this goal and make the challenge that I have set before me.

Sunday I noticed that I did not get credit for my Speechless Sunday blog. It is important because one of the criteria for the challenge is to blog consecutively for 30 days. Now I am concerned and with good cause. The lack of credit for the aforementioned blog is the second blog within less than a week that I did not receive credit (points) for. I have contacted the Activerain support community and remain hopeful this issue will be resolved quickly too. Only I doubt that it is a priority in the queue of things given the overall system outage Monday. Last time I checked I still did not have credit for the blog.

In the spirit of community and the good neighbor folks in the Rain I will continue to blog hoping to reach my goal. To others who have taken on the challenge I hope you are consistently tracking your posts for future validation, if needed.

Motivational Monday ~ It's Just Another Manic Monday

Alarm blasting while person is snoozing in bedChorus from the Bangles...

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my Funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
It's just another manic Monday.

It is not so much my intent to promote the song itself but I do like the jingle and the chorus; one line in particular...I wish it was Sunday!

I don't do Mondays so I will work hard to...

Make it a Great Day!

Wylie East Friday Night Football 2010

football with green streamer and gold starsHere in the Dallas metroplex the first week of the school year ends with Friday Night Football. Hooray! Only I am cheering for just one school, one team this evening and that would be Wylie East in Wylie, Texas

Wylie East won their first game. I am celebrating because my grandson aka JJ started high school this year at Wylie East. He joined Jr ROTC instead of football but he still got to be a part of the game with the Jr ROTC program. Yeah! JJ Go Wylie East! Here's to a great school year.

Does HUD owe you a refund for an old FHA loan? Here's how to find out.

Anyone who has ever had an FHA loan should check for their name. Sally Dunbar has made the process as simple as a click!

Via Sally Dunbar Fair Oaks Homes for Sale (Lyon Real Estate, Fair Oaks ('burb of Sacramento) CA):

HUD wants to give you money from your old FHA loanIf you have ever had an FHA loan, Uncle Sam may owe you a refund.  HUD has been stepping up efforts lately to identify people who have a refund due, but have not collected.  "Could that be me", you ask?  Let's find out.

Go to HUD's website at www.HUD.gov  and look for the FHA LOAN REFUND program. (You guessed it, my link will take you right there!) Enter either your name or your FHA case number, and you'll find out.

"How could this happen", you ask?  Maybe there was money due from an impound account, but after your escrow closed, you moved. This money might be sitting in the government coffers collecting dust, and they want to give it back.

Jump on it!
